Alzheimer's Disease: physical changes in the cenral nervous system, that occur due to aging, can result in Senile Dementia, which includes memory loss, confusion, and cognitive deterioration. Alzheimer's is a acute form of senile demntia which results in severe memory loss and progressive deterioration of mental capabilities.

Amnesia: an inability to remmeber events, usually brought on by trauma or injury to the brain

Antereograde Amnesia: an inability to remember new events after a traumatic event

Automatic- tendencies that don’t require conscious thought; (automatically done)

Conmen- individuals who attempt to steal others out of money or goods using some sort of scam

Decay Theory: As time passes, the memory initially stored fades away due to neglect.

Encoding- the initial stage of memory in which sensory events are coded and changed to a format that makes additional processing possible

Frontal Lobe-areas in the left and right cerebral hemispheres that are located above the lateral fissure and in front of the central fissure

Interference Theory: When "something" conflicts with our ability to recall information. Interference is generally classified into two types: Proactive and Retroactive Interference. Proactive is when new material is lost due to previous memories or procedures stored. Retroactive is when new memories block out the previous ones.

Korsakoff's syndrome: Antereograde Amnesia due to long-term alcoholism, the alcohol causes a damaged hippocampus.

Neurotransmitter: A chemical that carries a signal from one neuron to the next.

Nootopic: A drug which enhances memory, facilitates information flow between cerebral hemispheres, and enhances the brains resistance to physical or chemical injury.

Posthypnotic Amnesia: induced amnesia in a hypnotic session, subjects can be told to forget past or current memories.

Recall: Retrieving information from your long-term memory

Retrograde Amnesia: an inability to remember events that happened before a traumatic event
